Critical overview of polyanionic frameworks as positive electrodes for Na-ion batteries

Na-ion batteries (NIBs) are an important technological alternative to Li-ion (LIBs) for developing energy storage systems that cost-effective and less constrained by geographical supply chains, with similar densities. Analogous LIBs, cathodes play a critical role in determining the density of NIBs, layered transition metal oxide compounds widely used as NIB cathodes. However, instability-driven irreversible phase transitions frameworks, especially at large degrees Na removal, has necessitated exploration rigid structural frameworks resistant changes exchange. Thus, polyanionic which primarily consist polyhedra interconnected PO4, SiO4, and/or SO4 units, or without presence fluorine, have been investigated This review provides overview recent studies using polyanion cathodes, will be useful guiding scientific community towards development better
